- As I've posted several times before, WinFSP will not work for me.
- I am using Trumpet Winsock. I think I may have found the problem.
- I turned lots of tracing in under the Trumpet Winsock menu. One thing I
- noticed that was odd was that WinFSP only made one call: gethostbyaddr.
- Now this sounds perfectly logical, except the address that it used was not
- the address of the site I wanted to connect to, but rather the address
- of my PC!!! This isn't right is it? I don't think so, because using the
- trace on Telnet, when I connected to a remote site, it also used
- gethostbyaddr, but with that sites address.
-
- This would definatly explain why it won't connect to a server!!!
-
- Anyone have any clues?

- Karl,
- I'm surprised that you have problems. On my system using
- Trumpet winsock with the built-in windows drivers, I can ftp text
- files at 3.5 K bytes per second and ZIP files at 1.4K bytes per second
- which is all I can expect from a 14.4K baud modem. What
- throughput do you get?

- : Yes, it is called wirc101.zip and you can find it at

- Be aware that winirc.exe is _not_ ircII compliant so if a lovely
- lady asks you if you want her .gif, you can forget it! The
- windows are nice but the commands are limited. Should we all chip
